Despite their public stance many unconsciously know that their belief systems and ideologies would most likely result in either their decline into subsistence levels of living at best, or extinction at worse.
But they are not given a choice. They made their bed and now they sleep in it. For the rest of their lives.
Within a few years they would be crowding around at the base of the wall begging to be let over to the scientific side. In my dreams I stand there, on top of the impenetrable wall, smiling, waving and chuckling. Perhaps as special dispensation to the rule I would be allowed to toss them an apple. One a day. After I have taken a bite first, of course.
