The US has struggled with the Middle East for 70 years now and Israel is its geopolitical foothold and bastion in the region.
Plus the US tends to ally with other liberal democracies (though Israel seems to be becoming less liberal and democratic in recent years).
I'm unsure to what degree Jews in the government support Israel or pressure others in the government to favor Israel. A lot of non-right-wing Jews in the US don't really like Israel as a state and especially its behavior towards Arabs.
