Just watch it for what it is. They're cartoons for adults with fighting and sexual themes. The stories are you're run of the mill themes, but watch it for the characters and fights I guess.

That's part of the problem to why I can't get into anime, I think the fights are exaggerated and I don't like the sexual themes either. Is their any hope I can like anime?

Of course the fights are exaggerated. Most of the time they're fighting with magic, or weapons 2x larger than should be. It's supposed to be a hyperbole.
