People see Spanish as the language of poverty, because of the masses that speak it. But, honestly, it's the best language in the world to me. French comes second.

I'm of the opinion that Spanish, not English, should be the lingua franca of the world. French is somewhat better than Spanish when written, But for generalist purposes, and in other categories that would be a marker for the quality of a language; Spanish beats out French. And Spanish is already the second most widely spoken language, and the second most widely distributed language geographically. America for example, needs to switch to Spanish instead of English as the primary language and I say this as an Anglo that was born in America and everything about me is English.

So lets start first with encouraging people in America that don't already speak Spanish to start learning it and speaking it. It's a realistic possibility if the numbers of Spanish speakers in America continues to grow, that Spanish can actually replace English as the primary language (of America) in our life time. Of course people outside of America learning Spanish will help as well, but America is the critical piece to change the world's lingua franca. And the way America goes, so does the whole world or at least this is how it has been historically.

Don't let petty pride, and petty jingoism get in the way of adopting something that's actually more convenient and better for you in your life. You can learn Spanish now, and your life will improve because of it.
