when you think about it, the release of elden ring was kinda kino wasnt it.

sort of the culmination of the grit of that studio, from kingsfield to now, for 3 decades, which blew the whole world away (and also all other AAA titles because they are shit)

it was revealed to me in a dream
for real though 'zaki said ER is the closest to his dream game, and the world in first Dark Souls was made with intention of being able to travel to every place you see so it was most likely him trying to make an open world (which actually turned out to be the best world they made, restriction does breed creativity after all)
the game has all his favorite things too, they even added basilisks from Dark Souls which Miyazaki said were his favorite DS1 enemy in some old interview

After DS2, fromsoft's level design became bloated with useless repetetive details and the games no longer looked medieval. All the environments became so grandiose, they stopped being believable.
This really ruined my immersion.
