This might just be the case of a poor schmuck trying to come up with a pleasant sounding name for a character by borrowing the sounds of other words until a combination sounds nice and real enough to be a name, only to later discover that he used a word from another language that references something unsightly
This is why I always put my character names in Google Translate to make sure nothing's off
