if you have pets of any kind there's really no difference, not that I really wear my shoes indoors, but I definitely don't bother taking them off immediately upon entering unless they're actually dirty. I clean regularly, so I never quite got the fuss. the ones who wear them in bed though are actually disgusting, not going to defend those degenerates.
