A guy from my neighborhood (very strange as a kid; definitely something wrong with him) used to break into peoples houses well into his 20’s, and steal one item. He wasn’t a burglar; he didn’t go after jewelry or electronics. He’d just go in, look through their stuff, sit in their sofas, lay in their beds… He’d take something like a hairbrush, a razor, maybe some decorative thing from an end table. He was never caught, but claims he came close a few times. Most families in our area were dual income, and this was long before doorbell cameras. It’s also pretty conservative, so outside of being arrested it was still insanely dangerous.

Like, keeping a spreadsheet and trying to find out as much information as possible about a person. It's a fascinating challenge.

Basically, what intelligence agencies and social media companies do. It's amazing and frightening the amount of information people casually let out about themselves online.
The process of compiling it and finding new ways to collect said information is extremely fascinating to me. Detective work must be so interesting.
I've been in Discord servers in which after a few months of casual conversation you could very much dox some of its anonymous members if you pieced things together.
