I tried to look at it just the other day thinking that I have spare time and have been enjoying movies, maybe I'd enjoy anime again. Nope. It all looked so bad it's crazy. I can't tell one from another, it's like this nutritionless sludge. I see now how everyone normal looks at anime. I'm genuinely open to changing my mind but I think for a lot of us it was really just a temporary thing in our teenage years that was interesting because it presented novel tropes.
