I found these 2 this past summer. I imagine the regular sized ones taste better than these huge ones. The place where this grew is next to a flood plain though so I def wouldn't eat it

I've had friends that ate some from floodplains that weren't dehydrated thoroughly. They had digestive issue for two years until one day they woke up and found nematodes in their bed. But yes they can also absorb chemical runoff

I think inside or maybe just at the base of the stem. If I were to eat something wild I'd only trust something thats growing off a tree, either a live tree or a freshly fallen one
