>>19141033You fucking retard. The ancient British and the anglos are two totally different people groups. The ancient British, in the broadest sense, were various groups of celts: britons, welsh, irish, pictish, scottish, and others.
Britons, specifically, would be the most narrow group of ancient British, and they spoke Brythonic.
English didn't exist until some 4 or 5 centuries later, after Rome fell and subsequently pulled out of (then) Britannia around 400ad. During the 5th century, around 450ad, Germanic immigration (read: conquering settlers) into (then) Britannia happened en masse. People from the tribes of Angle, Saxon, and Jute emigrated from mainland Germania to the English isles.
After settling in Britannia and taking by force the lands they so desired, many kingdoms rose and fell, during which times the people of the three tribes intermingled to become Anglo-Saxons, otherwise calling themselves Anglish, or as it is now spelled, English, and calling their land Angle Land, which has been contracted to England.
Those Romans are shitting on Celts who wrote in their silly rock lines (Ogham), not Germanics who wrote in Runes which were just another branch off of Indo-European characters not so dissimilar to Latin letters.
