I hate American car dependency. When I visited Japan I could walk anywhere and take mass transit with ease. In America it takes 5 minutes of driving to get out of my neighborhood and on to a main road. Another 7 minutes if driving to get to the nearest grocery store. Naturally walking is out of the question, not because of the distance, but because there’s no sidewalk that leads to the store.

Agreed. I'm American and hate our current infrastructure. The footpaths are crumbling concrete & the roads are full of pot holes. I never liked living here, US sucks and we are full of fat mutts & people of colour everywhere. A black man robbed me and I live in Kansas! I took the subway tram & it was horrible, needles everywhere and there is no where nice to go to. We have a Mcdonalds every few blocks, I'm bloody miserable here in the US. I am restricted to my extra large pod....I mean house in the suburbs with a wonderful HOA. I drive an oversized truck to run daily errands, never go off road or leave the pavement

I'd prefer to live somewhere more elegant, Japan perhaps.

We don't here in the US. The closest actual bakeries we have are several kilometers away & we have to resort to using Walmart bakeries and Panera Bread. Every thing else is soulless grocery chain bread with a million preservatives. It sucks living here so much I have panic attacks even walking out of my house, literally anyone could be (and probably is) armed with a firearm. Actually I used to work there a long time ago. They have bakers that come in at night and bake everything fresh for the next day. It is a whole system, they have that shit down on lock.

It was the same in China. I lived in Shanghai for a decade. I had a car and driver for the first three years but never needed it that much so I just got rid of it. I could walk pretty much wherever I needed to go but for longer trips taxis were only a few $. That being said every single local wanted a car. Every last one. The ones who could afford it had one even if they didn't need it. They also didn't have niggers running around everywhere so it was quite pleasant to walk around the city.
