>>19177040If rain god doesn't give you rain to raise your vegetables, you can go fishing and pray to sea or lake gods to give you fish. Or go hunting and pray for god of hunting. Or fucking do business, pray to god of merchants and buy food with the profits. This makes the divine realm work on marketplace logic, where gods compete with each other for worshippers. It's in their best interest to have happy followers. Polytheism is logical, it is better for mortals and it just works.
Monotheism means that one god monopolizes all power. And just like monopolies are cancer in real markets, it is absolute cancer on divine realm.
>which is why polytheism is abandoned because it creates unnecessary division.Which causes more division?:
The belief that there are many gods, so even when you encounter different cultures, you can just accept them that they have their own gods and we have ours.
or
Monotheism where there is one god. And he is a jealous god who commands that you shan't accept other gods.
You can actually see this in history. Monotheism leads to religious conflict while polytheism doesn't really care about other religions. Polytheism in inherently more tolerant than monotheism.
