>>19177406Not quite, if we're talking about the French campaign in 1940, the use of whole tank divisions as spearheads was more decisive. The rest of the Wehrmacht could not keep up with Rommel's tank divisions which is why they received orders from OKW to halt. They feared being overstretched. Rommel ignoring this order and pressing to the French coast is what cut the French army in two. Use of tanks in this was completely novel at the time. The French had better tanks than the Germans on paper at this point in the war but they were usually integrated into infantry divisions rather than standalone divisions, the latter obviously being far more manoeuvrable
