The pledge of allegiance is so bizzare to me that I'm still not entirely convinced it isn't some inside joke my American friends aren't letting me in on. Is there a single other country where children are made to swear allegiance to the government every day, which is not explicitly seen as a dictatorship?
This isn't a rhetorical question, I'm genuinely curious if any of you experienced this in your own countries.
