Fall of the west aside, I just gifted a yu gi oh box with appearently rare cards to a 9 year old for christmas and his reaction replenished my will to live for another year.

The rule of the school yard knows no law. Those were the good times. I had an entire unsupervised school year due to teacher incompetence that was pure yu gi oh dominated anarchy.
The entire schools social hierarchy was defined by dueling skill. It was awesome, but we all lost interest after that year. But it was nice to see that the kids still enjoy the same things we used to like.

After that year, my deck was so broken that little 12 year old me and my best friend could waltz into the hobby shop and steamroll 30 year old sweatlords with their binders full of cyber dragons. I loved to see these old fucks sweat. It was truly the real life duel academy.

Nice, gifted my lil' bro lego parts, so we can build some 8x8 the size of a dog together.
He's 14 and barely shows any reaction, but I think he was kinda happy about it.
Dad got a very detailed classic wooden sailyacht model, a fancy USB stick with all my photography projects for my mother and a pair of fluffy warm socks.
Many smaller presents for my friends, distant family members...

Thanks, I don't think it's acting cool, it's just that my parents refuse to restrict his phone or PC use, so he shows considerably less interest in anything but 35yo neckbeard streamers and adhd games.
