Might be interesting to do a psychological study on these types of women. On top of the obvious daddy issues, my guess is they feel empowered by the negative attention. Kind of like keying their ex's car. It doesn't really change their situation, and it might have serious repercussions, but it provokes an emotional response from someone they otherwise have no power over.
