Fast forward to a decade and a bit later and I'm visiting my brother only to notice that he casually uses these weird neo-twitter/reddit era 4chan buzzwords as though they were part of everyday speech. This leads me to conclude that most of this "4chan outside of 4chan" stuff you see is less about cringe and more that this nomenclature is being used by normalfags without being aware of 4chan at all.
