The most prominent answer to why people put up with this is simple. It's just ignorance/stupidity or fear. The latter of which, fear, is a very justified response when your opponents have a monopoly on violence and mechanisms to inflict it upon you. Don't get it twisted though, it's fear and ignorance.
In order for me to give a shit about this society, there would have to be some serious re-negotiations on what I get out of it. Don't wanna do it? Fuck it, not contributing, gonna leech away as much as possible. And many young men feel the same way.
