And better yet. Why does the Sun set? If the Earth were a relatively flat plane (disregarding far off mountains of course), the sun wouldn't technically set. It would fade off into the distance until it just barely illuminated the sky. It would move towards the horizon but never set behind it.
And the concept of space being a vacuum is a misnomer. It does not "suck" or draw things away. That is where your logic fails there. It is an absence, not a force.
