Why are there so many major earthquakes worldwide and increasing in frequency, not to mention volcanic eruptions?

There's a lot of things converging in the last several years, that fit a future fulfillment, not a past.
and if it were past.. why does sin still exist, why do we still die, and why isn't Jesus on the Earth?
