Hey Memeflag-anon.

As an occultist and conservative myself I lean inro perennialism and traditionalism thus I suggest you remain within your catholic faith undisturbed and unmoved.

I myself have been enquiring about into Orthodoxy for 2 weeks now and though I do believe it is closer to the original Christianity.
However while I agree with Orthodoxy I find myself gravitating towards Catholicism regardless simply out of aesthetic and cultural ties. Maybe even a Catholic and Orthodox fusion.
Orthodoxy is beautiful but it is a bit too foreign for me including its very strict dogma and conservative nature.
Catholicism has more elbow room in my opinion.

So stick with God regardless

Rather I think Christianity evolved out of a solar Eastern Mediterranean mystery school tradition like Orphism or Mithraism both can be traced back to originate in Egypt and Sumeria/Babylon /Chaldea.
Both the New and Old testament in my view originate from pagan mystery traditions with the OT coming from Egyptian, Babylonian and especially Zoroastrian influences while Christianity developed out of Anatolian traditions that I believe had influence in the Levant during that time.

The Old Testament is the precursor to the New Testament which is its fullfillment as Christ said he did not come to abolish the law but to fullfill it.
In traditional christianity atleast ofcourse
and in those tradition the Old Testament is as part of the New Testament as Christ is to christianity. It is foundational.

The Old Testament laws were mostly in Leviticus and most of Leviticus is no longer valid as an ethical code.
Meaning most Old Testamant laws but not all, are not really necessary to be followed.
HOWEVER depending on the tradition you follow in Eastern Orthodoxy for example some dietary laws are retained within fasting days honoring the old laws in a new method to experience them this time to bring one closer to God.

In other churches whcih are very small and fringe like the Ethiopian Orthodox Church called Tewahedo meaning UInity or Oneness they do not differentiate between old and new testament laws.
Thus they still practise circumcision and they have a largely plant based diet as they retain the Kosher laws.

The Tewahedo's ideas can be found in other protestant groups who came to the same conclusion indirectly on their own

So it depends which denomination you follow.

I was Catholic and I still go to church every now and then for tradition's sake and just to be a part of the community. There's too much standing/kneeling/sitting. I feel like I'm playing Simon Says.
