In her defense, maybe the guy isn't worth putting in effort to. Men like this are inherently blue pill weak betas who simply don't understand female nature for what it is. He likely is not attractive to other women, so why would she respect him? Some of the key areas you have to be focused on in long term monogamy with women is your capability to remain or be attractive to other women as a whole; this competition anxiety threads genuine desire. Women will claim they hate competition, but the reality is the opposite. They want a man other women find attractive, because they know his innate loyalty is webbed to her despite his other options; not out of necessity (he has no options).
The frame of his relationship is broken, there is a fair chance she is already sleeping with other men. He's a good little egalitarianist-style thinking beta buck boi and he won't ever understand why he isn't getting laid regularly.
Actual Men (the top 20%) generally understand these rules. It's a simple talk for them of "hey listen, if we aren't fucking, I am going to find another Woman to fuck" but when you got a matriarchal society that facilitates female hypergamy through state subsidy (e.g, she has secured the bag through the child and living with him) she simply has to leave, take the subsidy and use that money to move on to the next man. So, as a man you have to work to negate this reality while simultaneously maintaining your ability to navigate the sexual market; meaning in order to sustain authority and leadership from the base of the relationship he should have had this built. Without that base, she has the leverage, and women with leverage are absolutely vile.
