>>19652529>the problem isn't the racial stereotype itself, but it's the same cliché narrative being recycled for over a decadethe reason for that is most people in the west/west-adjacent countries having English as second language, so they're more likely to be bombarded by the Anglo movie industry rather than Asian movies with subtitles which makes them even less appealing
Anglos simply recycle the same garbage because it sells, and some of the best films in Asia are folk films that don't appeal to the tattooed urbanite western audience
why would a tattooed skinny-jeans-wearing heroin addict SJW from San Francisco be interested in watching a film about the struggles of a traditional family in countryside Thailand? what sells in the west is capeshit, princessshit and raceshit
I agree with most of what you're saying. I still think the Yellow Peril also influenced Hollywood. It just so happen now that South Korea is an American ally, which work towards their favor.
I need to make a correction in that Asian cinema wouldn't have dominate, but they would have been getting better exposure. When Miramax brought Hong Kong and mainland Chinese movies to the U.S. in the mid 90s, they did well. Whatever the case, Americans and people in the west in general are getting boarder content from streaming services.
