the last time a woman told me this is because I was teaching a class and I mentioned a bad work experience I had and how common such things were, she was like "I'm sorry it didn't work out for you."
I saw her again a few weeks later after missing god knows how many classes with a giant black eye and missing teeth and then she dropped out of school. It actually evoked pity from me how sad her situation was.
