Science deals in evidence based on empirical reasoning. No one worth their salt is claiming to "know" where the universe came from. Science doesn't yet and may never have an explanation for why there is something rather than nothing. However, this doesn't mean we have to invoke an even more ridiculous and unprovable explanation such as provided by religion.
