they pulled the plug long time ago, no? I remember it being hard, like you had to enter some code from phone whenever you wanted to play friends game, so all sessions had to be 4-6 hours so it wouldn't be annoying for them.

I’d share with my kids. I have terraria. Two of the boys do. The third doesnt. He uses the old family share when he wants to play but it prevents me from playing anything. Now he can play and I can play. Or assuming i dont play when they do they just leverage the copy of anything from my library to prevent having to buy 3 copies themselves. Save 33%!

This isn't communism. If anything it's closer to ownership of digital products. In the old days you could lend a cartridge or disk to your buddy with the same console because you actually owned the game.
