Oh my Lord go outside and look at an object. It doesn't matter what it is. Anything. Does it have multiple shadows? Almost always YES. Unless you're standing in the middle of a tar pit, the answer is YES. That's because light reflects off of many different surfaces and bounces around in all different directions and casts shadows, some easily visible, some very faint. The only way you would not have noticed this in your personal experience is if you have literally NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE
