Copper is easy to steal, i like it, so i make lots of stuff out of it, so sometimes theft is a must.
Then there's aluminum, which is everywhere, it just sucks. It's weak and doesn't always want to smelt, some of it just straight up disintegrates like tin.
You said you wanted decent metals, steel might be too difficult for you to get as it is for me, so yeah go with copper. Construction sites at night are a good place to start. Junk yards will sell it to you at a steal if that's the kind of theft you're good at.
