A week before the brazilian empire fell, the emperor did a prom, in the prom there was a black dude who was a personal friend of the emperor, this black guy was called André Rebouças and he was the first black engineer of the country. He was responsible for creating a mortar that pretty much ended the paraguayan war, and he was responsible for building the most beautiful train ride in the entire country. Anyway, during the prom, no one wanted to dance with Rebouças because he was black, so the emperor himself allowed his daughter, princess Isabel to dance with Rebouças. He was the only one who danced with the brazilian princess.
