>>20001181I think it's more than that. The more blatant it is then the more demoralizing it is too. It chips away at people's will to resist, after all they knew it was wrong but they joined in the witch hunt anyway out of fear or need to fit in.
Then they gradually make it worse and more blatant and people go along with it like they did last time. It also makes them think they can't complain after the fact too. It was so blatant they knew what they were complying with, sure it was wrong, but what right does a willing participant have to complain?
This also makes it easier to swallow worse events that aren't as blatant if they're presented more palatably. After all they gave it a nice name like the "I love my country act".
