Bros, my dad is getting a Tremec TRX put in his 1969 GTO. It still has the factory 3 speed. Last time I took it on the highway for an hour at 65 MPH it was 3300 RPM the entire time sounded like it was very upset.

I've been driving an automatic, but it's one of those robotised one which shifts automatically, and honestly I just wish I got a normal manual transmission one. You just have more control of the car in a manual.

It would fail to engage going 5 or 6 into R anyways because of the gear speeds. You would need to absolutely Thannos slam it to make even remotely possible.

On most cars with the "tail end reverse" setup they still have a lockout mechanism to prevent this. I know my '91 NSX does (5-speed USDM).

heh, been a while since I had that issue on my FG2. I think it was more to do with wheel hop and "flex" in the transmission at high rpms. Once I put on stiff motor mounds the entire issue went away. That and Royal Purple.

Doesn't happen in my AP2 either, even with redline shifts.
