Our utility is just barely big enough to fit the washing machine and dishwasher, the dryer is stacked on top of the washing machine.
The kitchen and sitting room are basically one room. You don't realise how loud a kitchen is until you're trying to watch something on TV. I'm almost certain he did this just to make it easier for him to watch telly while eating dinner.

It's fixed now but there used to be a small hole next to the lightbulb in the bathroom. Woodlice would fall through the hole, get trapped in the lampshade, try desperately to get out, and die, leaving a pile of dead woodlice that had to be emptied out whenever the bulb needed changing.
There used to be two large electrical wires hanging down the ceiling over the stairs.
Lastly he wanted to have the stairs come down into the kitchen instead of the hall. This was the only thing he relented to my mother on.
