There's no money in it. Even buying a broken ps5 (most expensive console) will be risky, because if you can't fix it you're out at least 350. Assuming you can solder the boards back into a working state, you're making about $50 profit, but half will go to ebay.

My parents did this with wooden furniture as a side gig. Often times you can get these things in poor condition for almost or even literally free, sand them off, add a fresh layer of paint and varnish and sell it for a hundred or three depending on what kind of furniture it is. Pretty arduous to do since you need to pick it up from wherever and bring it to your place, then work on it for a good week, and then sell it while avoiding timewasters who are "just looking" or who want to lowball or who don't show up at all

There's a bit of money in doing this with phones, as far as hardware goes it's pretty simple and you can teach yourself most things you need to know in a week or two, and anything you can't do you can send off to a repair shop and then resell after.
