>>20241352Stalin gave orders to burn down Russian villages to prevent the advancing Germans from having shelter (order #0428), considered anyone who surrendered or who were captured to be traitors, and punished them and their families (#270), and order #227 states "Panic makers and cowards must be liquidated on the spot. Not one step backward without orders from higher headquarters!" in other words, they would shoot their own men if they didn't advance or if they retreated from an untenable position. The Red Army's scorched earth policy of destroying food supplies and infrastructure in their retreat (in tandem with the western blockade) killed millions of Slavic peasants, which the Soviets later blamed on some fictitious "hunger plan".
All propaganda about "muh slavocaust! muh lebensraum!" has been proven as just that, propaganda and debunked myths. Plenty of slavic groups were allied to, or were ignored by, the Germans, which is enough to debunk the idea by itself, but it isn't even close to scratching the surface regarding the info that busts those myths.
Also, when you engage in partisan warfare, you don't get to complain when the strategies to combat partisan warfare end up getting used. If your partisans use a particular village as a base, it's probably gonna get burnt down or have reprisals take place. The Germans weren't the only combatants in that war who engaged in these actions.
