Greenland shark lives mainly in south Greenland region, at sea. Very rarely it wanders to Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Its Finnish name is Holkeri and Swedish name is Holgersson. Norwegians simply call it Greenland shark.
It's astounding animal: lives for 500 years in total darkness provided it stays nearby Greenland where it is cold and dark.

Eldest shark captured was estimated 400 years old but it is presumed they could live even 500 years. The 400 year old dying shark found by researchers had roughly 400 year old Swedish coins lodged into its digestive system.
It is common to catch 200 year old sharks. Maybe 200 years ago there was exceptionally good breeding season for sharks since so many are 200 years old in a species that was proven to live twice longer than that.
>They can produce offspring even at age 100.
This shark has poisonous meat which can only be eaten by Eskimos after careful preparation; meat needs to be put in underground hole and left rot for a few weeks before eating.
