I watched the documentary Idubbbz did on Sam Hyde in February of 2022, and at the time I had no clue who either were or why any of that shit mattered. I disliked Sam in that video, and took him for some assholish heathen who seemed like an all-around rude person.
Then Sam made FishTank, and that's when I began my descent down the MDE rabbit hole. The Idubbbz documentary was a lot more entertaining after realizing the whole thing was a prank, and even if it was still a conceited and devious thing to do for nothing more than the 'lulz' it still got me intrigued with Sam's brand of content creation. It baffled me a creator like him even existed and that he apparently had a whole 'crew' of people just to make silly internet videos and run what looked like a complete hack show.
I learned more about how Sam's show got cancelled from Adult Swim, Sam's PGL podcasts, FishTank seasons 1 and 2, and now I'm so in deep that I've devolved to reading schizo conspiracy theories on /bant/ about what kind of secret life Sam has, and what goes on behind the scenes when he doesn't have a camera or microphone on him.
I still don't understand what Sam's angle is, aside from gathering money from fans, and whether he actually believes the shit he says, or if the whole thing is one big ironic satire he puts on for other people to scratch their heads and get offended by.
