If you have a simple sweep pattern or riff you want to learn, find a speed that is comfortable to play it at, learn to play it cleanly at that speed and increase the BPM by 10 every time you can play it clean at a given speed. Even at my level, I recently learned Akroasis by Obscura and started with the tab at 30% speed and worked my way up to full speed; it's just a good way of learning things on an instrument.
