Have any of you guys noticed Americans beginning to have a disliking towards Non-Americans lately?
I live in a dorm where it’s about half Americans and half foreign exchange students, and it really seems like attitudes are becoming to change. Whenever Americans came across somebody that was from elsewhere, they’d be pretty friendly, especially coming from a bigger country. Like in Europe, where they’d literally fangirl over this and that about that person’s particular culture. Like Ongezellig when meeting somebody from the Netherlands or Lastman with somebody from France, you know, whatever.
But it seems to me that my fellow Amerimutts are at best, indifferent. And at worst, have a genuine dislikeing towards whatever foreigner they come across, to the point of segregating themselves. With the exception being our- well to be frank, non-white exchange students. Especially South Koreans and Japanese, where they seem especially friendly towards.
But regardless, I suppose both have noticed and I’ve asked my fellow mutts why that is, and they what I’ve been told is that they’re tired of criticism about “everything”
“American policies (foreign and domestic) infrastructure, food, media, whatever. And that doesn’t even get into shit that happens abroad. These fuckers act like I’m responsible of their dog dying”
At first I thought this guy was pretty much full of shit. But then I couldn’t help remember this instance where this guy from Germany brought up Ukraine to a fellow mutt, and he just flat out walked away. And thinking about it more, I can think of a million other instances of this sort of thing happening.
What’s going on here /bant/? Have you noticed anything like this as of late?
