I've been battling insomnia for 30 years, and the problem is always "tuning out" before midnight. If I'm not asleep by then, I know I'm in for a rough night and an even worse day. You have no idea what going to work without an ounce of sleep is. You just want to tune out and die. Your body is screaming, sending you every signal that you need sleep. But you have to go to work.
I usually only get a rough night once every three months, but in my 20s, I had imsomnia 2 days every week. And it was never in the saturday so I could just sleep at home. Always tuesday or wednesday.
