>>20343645i could imagine. i think the image of ourselves that we perceive in our parents, like what we think they think about us, is super important because we're constantly fighting to gain their approval and affection of us. i thought that in the case of parents who don't bother to pay attention to their child, the child ends up acting up in a bid to gain their attention, but this usually ends up in receiving more negative attention than good. i think about all of the sluts and whores in the modern age, how they cropped up, likely because most parents thought it was acceptable to plop their crying kid infront of a tv or ipad, instead of try to give them attention, so they grew up whoring their bodies out because they'd finally get a bit of positive attention that they missed out on in their childhood. you'd think the parent would finally care when they see their kid end up amongst a bad crowd, but the parent simply just condemns it and sends more negativity their way.
it's pretty fucking horrible, but at the very least, it's not our fault for ending up like this. we do always have an excuse we can fall back on for why our lives aren't shaping up to anything, but it should never be an excuse to do nothing about it at all and just let it consume us. we deserve to know happiness, love, and all the other shit we missed out on. we are still infinitely valuable human beings with the capacity in us to make a positive impact in this world. sometimes, it's hard to see though, through all of the difficult to process emotions, and that's fair.
