I'm fuming bros, some ppl simply don't give a single shit.
There was this roastie on ebay who was probably selling her deceased dad or uncle coins' collection. Some incredible stuff, all starting at 1€, no description, shitty pics.
I managed to win 2 of those for 65 bux total.
I received the coins today. Litterally an A4 paper sheet folded in half taking lieu of envelop and the 2 coins threw in there, clingling against each other. Zero protection of any kind. It's a miracle anything reached to me because the coins ripped against the sorting rolls in dispatching centers and teared apart the "envelop" on 2 inches. Thankfully a postman probably noticed it and folded the envelop in half so the coins wouldn't fall.

What's really infuriating here is one of the 2 coins is literally in UNC condition, a breathtakingly beautiful silber's 2 Reales 1774 from Mexico, still with it's original brillant. There are micro scratches and i'm 90% sure it happened during transportation. What kind of fucking niggerbraindead whore do you have to be to do that to such an incredible coin? Chances are it was the most well conserved 1774's Reales in the world before this old cunt threw it in her homemade envelop. I wanna kill her.

That's fine when starting and I would say encouraged to stay interested in the metal. The walkers are better fakes than the morgan, probably casts instead of hand carved die.

But specifically the weakness on the top rim of the left, as well as the weak drape below the outstretched hand on the same coin.

both coins are missing the berries by the leaves below the R. Both coins are missing multiple drapery lines all over the dress in low areas that shouldn't be lost to wear. They're good copies, but I do believe they're probably copies.

also notices that good copies of the stone mountain coin exist all over the internet in the $9 range. It may well also be chinese even though I'm not seeing any specific problems aside from the weak back leg of the rear horse, and the wonky lettering.

I could be mistaken on this. I make mistakes. It's possible I'm wrong. The halves may be fine. There's nothing obviously wrong with them as there is with the dollar. All the lines are in the right places, some are missing but that could be lighting or weak strike or wear. I'd definitely weigh and measure, but they might be fine.

I played it on the SNES. And yea Twisted metal was a favorite of mine as well. I always played as the Semi truck. So satisfying to use the ability and ram people into oblivion. Most detectorists are technically criminals. It's almost impossible to detect without breaking some laws. Most of us also aren't in it for the money. It's not a good way to get rich. Lottery has much better odds and fewer legal problems.

Agreed! I was thinking more about the need for local refineries/bullion mints and assaying services but I can see the overlap with Notaries. I've come across people on Craigslist with Sigma machines offering cheap PM testing, a good idea that would give access to unappreciated inherited collections too. You'd need an XRF gun and metallurgical workshop/lab to be the real deal but a sigma is a fair start.

As of now, only certain coin shops act as an assaying service, and thats likely due to being on a first name basis with them. A while back i sold a bar of silver to a bro who was getting into stacking and we verified it at the lcs, generally though an assaying would likely be for a larger sum of wealth as a notary's work is usually reserved for.
Accreditation could be as simple as a course with a standard catalog of tools available

In 2001 the US mint made a commemorative silver dollar using the buffalo nickel design which was very popular, so the generic buffalo rounds of today are probably due to that iteration of the design.

probably on a different ID now but no, I think that's the initial of the artist, the mintmarks are inbetween "Five" and "Cents" on the reverse below the buffalo, just above the rim.

Totally understandable fren, it also made me a bit paranoid concerning the rest. And since the pic was extra "digitalized" (idk how to put it into words since i'm not a tech fag, but you know when phones are trying to fix up blurry/taken in motion pics and literally make stuff up in the process kek) it most likely messed with tiny details.

Same laws in Italy and a few other places. As a detectorist myself I hate it, but I understand it. When you find something of historical and cultural importance, you receive some money based on its value (<10%).
