If you really feel suck I would recommend finding some book that caters more into what you are interested in and try it out.
Being self thaught is hard, but books can be especially helpful.
Also getting artistic eyes for things might help. If you see other peoples work of art more objective and more in line with how an architect sees buildings. It could probably improve your own art.
Really struggled with understanding the sections of a song until I started trying to identify them in songs and I got decent at it. Went from it's just a song goes from A to B to it being fleshed out and making sense and being able to identify different sections.
