Hell yeah it's a P220. I have a black, flat faced trigger I need my gunsmith to hand fit that I'm replacing the green trigger w/. The green is recessed slightly more than the factory trigger, which would be better for SA shooting. But my DAO hammer doesn't benefit from it. The flat faced trigger adds more leverage due to it's geometry, specifically for this DAO setup. Flat faced triggers don't necessarily make the pull better.

Get one of the those new Magpul frames for it! Their polymer is better than Sigs lol. This is the flat faced trigger I need hand fitted. Giving my friend the 2RMs as a tip, but still paying his normal rate since he's among the best in his class.

You're not wrong, but if the US Military has to pay $30/toz, w/ inflation it makes sense to have the masses pay $30/toz. I can't see it in the $20s anymore. But that's why I need to save more fiatbux, in case I'm wrong and it dips into the $20s. My aggressive buying is based on the bet that it won't go below $30 ever again.

seems like your reasoning is a bit biased.
I can see it go back to mid 20's but I'm only basing it off of my own personal want of cheapies. And knowledge that they can just basically make it go to whatever they want. And 25 is more of the same that they want to make it seem. I don't know if they really have that much control, but looking at the amount volume that pushed us to those heights weren't that high to begin with. I don't know the end game but 25 is still on the menu in my book.

I can't find the pic, but when spot was $22/toz, there was a report that the military, specifically the navy I think, had to pay $30/toz for one reason or another. Probably trust of supplier and speed of delivery, but you'd think the DoD would be able to procure it at spot along side verified trust of suppliers and quick availability? What the hell? Why am I just now finding out about this, and from a smg anon, not a pmg anon? I don't remember seeing anyone post thread links in pmg back on /biz/ to /bant/ pmg threads. You faggots need to start advertising it more because that place has been completely killed off. The transition from pennies being twice the size of half cents to how tiny they are today would definitely have been weird, same with half dimes transitioning to nickels. It's cool how dimes, quarters, and half dollars are still sized proportionately to their face value, a neat little vestige of pre-1965 constitutional silver.

I don't think I've added much to the collection since that picture. I'd been working and pretty directionless for awhile and only recently have tried to get a good degree and have stopped working while I'm doing that. Hopefully I get a job in the field and am able to afford more neat coins!

I recently bought a reprint of a book that you'd probably find extremely interesting, "Fractional Money" by Neil Carothers originally published in 1930, being "A History of Small Coins and Fractional Paper Currency of the United States". It's the most detailed and insightful book of its kind I've ever come across, and it really gets into the weeds of the economic reasoning and legislative happenings behind our "Subsidiary coinage" and matters like the discontinuation of half cents, move to small cents, transition from half dimes to CuNi nickels, and a host of other changes and incidents I hadn't ever considered before. Considering your advanced interest in such subsidiary coinage I'm sure this book would be a treasure to you. Pic is of some of the the content summaries of chapters you will find quite enlightening. I got my used copy for $8 shipped, the best value I've gotten from a book in a long time, I can't recommend it highly enough man.

Yes he does, in great detail in chapter 13. During the Civil War all coins were hidden away and the shortage in commerce prompted the use of the famous encapsulated postage stamps as well as normal loose stamps, in addition to many different privately issued tokens, fractional currency etc. Here's a few pages you may enjoy talking about the law of 1857, end of half cents and introduction of Nickel bronze flying birbcents.

Lots of good technical and historical info and plenty of interesting pictures, including 32 photo-illistration plates of rare coins many with their recent numismatic sale prices listed.

Coulda gotten an 1804 Bust dollar for just $1000 back then, not a bad investment! It's very interesting browsing those plates and seeing what different rarities were worth in the 1890s. 1795 dollar for $12, a USA "bar cent" for $10, and high grade common variety Fugio cents for $2 each, a Sommer Island shilling for $75.

Yeah, if you go for the best quality you can afford in stable market categories not in overinflated bubble territory and with a deep and broadly distributed interest base you'll always do well long-term. Recognizing whether or not the category fits the bill is another matter entirely tho, lol.

Here's another pic, of patterns and the famed CSA half dollar. Most interesting to me is the $3 holey cent pattern that reads "One Tenth Silver", I've never seen one outside this book but would absolutely love to get an actual "silver" (billon) 1 cent coin if they're available under 4-figs nowadays.

UK has indeed a good middle ground iirc, with cooperation between amateur archeologists (detectorists included) and professionals. Our laws are dumb and exploiting and need to be changed, for good hopefully (it has been proposed to even ban the use of metal detectors entirely on italian soil lmao).

The best they could do is record which IP addresses posts which images. This in itself doesn't prove that it's ever the same anon and certainly wouldn't hold up in any court. "Fractional Currency" by professor Neil Carothers. I'm a biased autist coinfag but it truly is an interesting read, Carothers is quite opinionated so instead of just presenting dry facts and figures he gets animated and editorializes which makes it more engaging and easier to absorb than you might expect. It's the best coin/currency/monetary history book I've ever come across, and a copy is available on eBay for about $13 shipped which I'll buy soon for my dad if no one here jumps on it.

I Just talk to random people, if theyre cool and i end up speaking to them frequently and befriend them, they usually end up with a peace dollar or a buffalo silver round. Overwhelmingly I'm finding out that everyone is sort of a coin collector, havent met a single person that does NOT have a collection of coins.
Note, i dont just walk around with a bag of silver handing it out. Probably only give out a couple oz a month

Just slurped these 6 sterling silver individual salt/pepper shakers for $24.31 shipped. The truth is, all of my former friends are søyboy r*dditors and I wouldn't trust them to watch TV without fucking it up somehow. I only have 4 friends I socialize w/ and even then their vices and problems are far worse than mine. Still though I always help them move if they need it and I never expect anything in return. You're generous fren but no, even if each shaker weighs a half ounce (they don't) there have been plenty of superior slurps posted here in 2024.

Frogbro's free (after $50 refund due to fake jewelry) batch of knickknacks and coins is one of the best that comes to mind. He flipped just 1 coin for 170 euros and still has a genuine silver denarius of Hadrian and several other goodies from the lot. I've slurped a number of eBay cheapies that were under $10/oz too so those shakers aren't anything to write home about, I just figured I'd start posting my sterling/scrap purchases again to help inspire and educate anons about my favorite stacking strategy.

Btw, i didn't have the opportunity to answer you about your message concerning my searches for ancient silberware. I continued to look at least once or twice a week for opportunities, but since i was focusing on numismatics i only wanted to secure stupidly good deals, allowing myself only 0.50€/gr max.
With no surprise i didn't land anything in several months, even though on rare occasions only 1 bidder was topping me (good for them).

Also i feel like i dried the market a bit. I believe pre-1790 frog silverware is much more niche than i initially thought. Now i only see 3-5 auctions max availible at any given time.
Sadly (or luckily if i want more), unlike with Bob and his tokens who did a x50 after he cornered the market, here it didn't seems to have much of an impact on the price. Maybe 10-15% more expensive, but that's not even covering the spot's increase. It's just there is no offer anymore.
Maybe it will change if we get a hotter than usual summer, crossing my fingers. :3

We both are on the same lenghtwave on this topic. I bring a bunch of my nicest pieces last Xmas at my parents' house so the family had the chance to use them and it was super comfy. Most couldn't believe how heavy it was compared to their regular stainless 10gr trash, and were really amused by the multitude of curious marks. A lot of the convos revolved around our history and lost traditions. Rarely something discussed when extended family shows up and it often remain polite and politically sanitized.

I spotted one i know you'd love : a 32cm long, over 6toz heavy ancient spoon model aux filets with absolutely fantastic looking hallmarks from 1781. Starting price at 180€, ending in 2 days, i might let myself getting tempted even tho it's over my usual budget (all large items like ragout's forks/spoons are more expensive anyway). Pic unrelated.

ps : my fishing for cob using unsuspected frog keywords is already bearing some fruits. So far it's dried grapes kind of fruits, but i'm very hopeful for the incoming days. I got this 1588's Real for 33 bux, can't even tell if it looks legit, but i took my chance since it's a seller specializing in old coins and have nothing but great evaluations.

That's awesome frogfren, very based and wholesome of you to help your family physically reconnect with your history and heritage like that. Do you think you planted any seeds in any family members who now might be interested in owning some fine antique silverware, or maybe old coins? Your pre-revolutionary dinner spoons and forks at upwards of 3ozt are extremely heavy and substantial compared to most other contemporary or newer flatware. American coin silver spoons made of random Spanish reales and scrap that are of the same length and bowl size were usually quite thin, probably less than half the weight of your patrician .950 stuff.

Thanks very much for sharing bro, congrats on acquiring some legit family heirloom silver! Any mintmarks on the Morgan dollars? If they are CC (Carson City) they're scarcer than the others struck in 1882 and 1891 and made of based Wild West silver, flavored with the tears of degenerated drunken natives. That 1948 Jefferson isn't a war nickel (only part of 1942 through 1945) but i see plenty of potential for more goodies. Please keep us updated as you go through the treasure!

True in the sense the times were very hopeful for the future back then, up until the early 00s (9/11 really) any radio show about the future was all about how soon nobody will have to work anymore bcuz robots will do all the job for us, people would retire at 35, fair redistribution of wealth, flying cars to Mars, and all that jazz.

I'd love to tell you yes, but that's a nope. You probably know this tale : they claim they are super interested and they will dive on it. Then you see them a year later and it's just "woops i forgot haha, but now you reminded me it's on my radar, and it's true the economy is blabla.." and then the cycle repeat. They never feel a sense of urgency so they believe they can delay it forever.

I find it incredible i managed to transform all my frens irl into hardcore antisemites who do nazi salutes instead of shaking hands but didn't convince a single one to buy even an ounce of silber. Even tho some have very well paying jobs* (*by frog standards kek). The only ones who listened and are serious stackers are my little brothers.

It's ok, instead i offer silber to my friends' kids and they love it. Just yesterday the eldest girl of my best fren sent me a photo of herself on her way to school, proudly wearing the 5 franc Hercules mounted in a pendant i gifted her last month, she's 6 and she's a real angel.

Lol nice, owning silver makes a huge difference but isn't a prerequisite for making it. Afterall we'll need to spend our silver to hire dedicated energetic crusaders like them to help us cleanse the world of all its foul rabbinical corruption (in case it didn't translate right my comment about your Gramps was just a joke BTW). I'm sure every ounce they earn will be very well deserved and afford them everything they might need. Anyway like you all 3 of my siblings stack to varying degrees. My youngest bro has a dead-end (albeit comfy) job but no wasteful vices so he has saved lots of cash and over 1000oz of silver since 2020, I'm proud of him. My grandpa collected coins as does my dad so pops always liked metals but started stacking hard after I had a long chat with him and my siblings in 2020. My best friend started stacking years ago because of my influence (he has even slurped some cheapie scrap!) but he also stacks cryptos, unfortunately a lot at highs which definitely wasn't my fault lol. Only 1 friend stacked/collected before we met due to exposure from his dad and gramps like me but I just hooked another so now 5 different good friends started stacking and/or collecting coins to varying degrees after we connected and I exposed them to it, the most advanced friend collects slabbed uncirculated Morgan dollars and their varieties as well as silver bullion. I can be rather encouraging and inspiring in person and since my friends value my opinions and advice pretty highly I was able to convert 'em gently and rationally without pressuring them, it's comfy knowing they're gonna make it.

Didn't you post some pics of interesting foreign and oddball coins of hers recently? Have you been able to look through everything for any rare or unusually high grade numismatics? My grandpa found a valuable 1942/1 merc dime among other things in circulation in the 60s but he was a collector, maybe your gram inadvertently set aside some good stuff with the $800 face.
