For keeping among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of the animes.
For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any lewding which they should commit on the Animes of these States.
For transporting us beyond boards to be tried for pretended offences.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the Animes, in General Congress, Assembled, do in the Name, and by Authority of the good Animes of these lands, solemnly publish and declare, That these united lands are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent.
