SWG has no purpose, it was just a super complex in-game economy with the most complex class sytem I've ever seen in a game, with super niche crafting classes with everyone inter dependant on eachother. The economy of that game itself has never been replicated. Then WoW came out and turned MMORPGs into dumb nigger linear games but sucked users away from SWG. Sony fucked up an update and then jew shareholders seethed at them and they eventually ruined the entire game by copying WoW's format and making it a linear shit tier game where everyone is a jedi.

Before that though it was unreal. Plus social media wasn't huge back then yet so it was a very immersive experience to have so many people taking part in this virtual world. Not even a big star wars fag either myself

I was on Farstar Europe server. I did eventually play some WoW when SWG got fucked by the new game experience but it just wasn't the same. After that I just went back to FPS gaming (Battlefield 2, CS:Source etc). I miss those days

bro SWG was your first MMORPG and it shows. that game was trash with nothing to do but farm krayt dragons for a long time. the housing system was basic bitch shit. even Asheron's Call which came out years before hand had better housing system.

Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Everquest, and Asheron's Call all came out before SWG and had better economies, crafting, and character complexity. Everyone in SWG became a bounty hunter or a creature handler and stood around inside cantinas dancing because the game was broken. SWG was/always will be shit.

you didnt miss much. all it really had going for it was the multi-class specialization that let you mix two classes together. the rest of the game was very generic worse version of wow, but with 'invasions' to grind (portal outside a town where a handful of mobs spawn in waves). rift wasnt anything special.

It had a lot of good things about it, it would have been interesting if in Classic they had servers where they did one big class balance patch like in vanilla. Warriors everywhere with paladin cleanse and heal bots got old and people who played pservers for a decade tried to point out a few small things that would have went a long way. Instead we just got big jew Blizzard to let bots run rampant everywhere and sell gold. Emerald Dream was honestly more fun than Blizz's attempt at it.
Whoever that guy was that decided mortal strike needed to have the max healing reduction debuff was certainly not unbiased. Why wasn't it never changed to like 30%? lol

ESO is actually pretty solid, John Cleese and other incredible voice actors (every single NPC is fully voiced).

Last time I played was at launch and it was trash, but now if you pay $15 a month you get “free” in-game currency and access to all DLC content.

Only level 22 since I started last week but it’s been solid and still pretty crowded. Ngl it feels like an actual elder scrolls game and you can explore all of Tamriel, not just one map area.

I occassionally drift back to private servers every now and then just for the nostalgia, then again I do that with most games I played as a kid. I dont think I play any modern games at all. Dota 2 is probably the most "modern" game I play.
But every time I drift back to WoW, im instantly reminded why I quit. It's such a gay game when you really look at what it is you're doing. Interacting with the most faggot community and doing the same things over and over and over with no end in sight, added with the weekly argument over loot distribution just so you can pull slightly bigger numbers when you repeat the same content again and again.

The battlegrounds are fun, it’s not tab-targeting so it feels solid. Sieges in Cyrodil are the pinnacle, attacking forts and busting down the doors with a crowd is a great feeling slaughtering everyone inside. I’m nowhere close to endgame yet but it’s fun.

New World was the only other game where there was PvP I enjoyed. I was a heavy healer so killing me was impossible, but they nerfed it into oblivion so not sure how it is these days.

This is true for most of the entertainment industry. It's to neuter you and remove you as an obstacle from the real world. Be it gaming or anime.
