The relationship with Demiurge is probably the most important out of anything in the series. As someone made to be truly monstrous and highly intelligent, he's the real deal of what Ainz can only imitate or at best grow toward with experience and the racial effects. He also represents the only thing Ainz fears no matter what else is accomplished.
Therefore, since the focus of the story seems to be on the future of Ainz's reign rather than exploring the significance of the game elements or other players, Demiurge is a representative of the true highest conflict of Ainz. A literal and figurative demon.
It would be impossible to have a satisfying end without addressing this relationship and taking it to whatever conclusion it should go in. The kingdom-building is starting to drag on too long for me because it's living in the shadow of that conflict.
