And thanks to the "ingroup outgroup" mentality of us humans we never stopped ignoring information to elevate ourself (and our group) over others.
There is a nice experiment with two groups of 10 year olds. First they hated each other for no true reasons but ones a common goal was made they acted as they never had a problem with each other.
That why i think people on the internet make fun of other internetusers... becouse they can and beliefe to elevate there standing by lowering others.
