I didn’t used to be so cynical but I’ve worked so fucking hard these past 4 years, I studied by ass off and got an 4.0 GPA average, was even on the dean's list and received honors. And not a single fucking person in this industry has given a shit. Litrally the only ones who have EVER recognized my hard work are my parents and friends. And now I’m going back to school to… I don’t know, waste my money getting more certifies and degrees that nobody will give a shit about?
I’m starting to think every industry in America is run like a car dealership; everyone is trying to sell you overpriced and undervalued bullshit by making you believe you need it or that it’ll make you happy or that it’s the key to your success. Maybe it is and I just learned the hard way. Everyone tells you to work, save, try to better yourself and get ahead, keep your nose to the grindstone and don't listen to the naysayers, get promotions and eventually get a raise only for that raise to come with catch or to not actually be money at all, then they tell you you’re doing great with a fake smile on their face right up to the point they let you go at the end of your ninety days. They'll say "Maybe we can reconsider in a few months" and then won't even return your calls because you're not making them money. Work yourself into the fucking ground. Stuck in a system your forced to jump through ridiculous hoops, mental and physical exhaustion eating at your sanity like worms at dirt.
