>>20565662>>20565653every person carries two genes. one of them being dominant(in the case of eyes brown eyes are dominant) and the other recessive(blue/green). if a person has two dominant genes or one dominant and one recessive gene the dominant gene will come to show. If a person has two recessive genes the recessive gene will come to show. When making children you get one gene from each parent randomly.
so X being Brown eyes
and Y being blue eyes
XX + YY (as in full dominant brown eyes and recessive blue eyes for father and mother)
the children can be XY only. which means they must have Brown eyes
XY + YY (as in not fully dominant and a full recessive)
you can get (statistically) XY YY XY YY.
so 50/50
XY + XY (two peopoe with brown eyes but both with a recessive gene)
you can get XX XY XY YY
which means there is a 1 in 4 chance your kid will have blue eyes even if both parents have visibly brown eyes.
all this means if you have full dominant brown eyes and your wife recessive blue eyes
your children cant have blue eyes. but their children can if they find a partner who has at least one recessive gene
